Two sister colours sit enmeshed in a static-like design in this rustic, handcrafted rug.
Jute is a tropical plant that flourishes in parts of India and Bangladesh. It is one of the strongest vegetable fibres with insulating and antistatic properties, and has a very earthy look and feel. Jute is 100% biodegradable and recyclable, thereby minimising the environmental impact and carbon footprint of your rug.
A classic weaving technique, a kilim rug is made by interweaving the warp and the weft, or the vertical and the horizontal strands. This produces a flat-weave rug with no pile (rug-speak for carpet height). These rugs usually come in a number of colours and geometric patterns, and can use strands of different thicknesses and types. Kilim rugs are high-density, durable and resistant, even when they are very lightweight.
Every Spacewarp rug is made to order, crafted entirely by hand and tools. This means it usually takes 6-7 weeks from start to finish.

General care
· Rotate or flip your rug on a regular basis so that it ages evenly.
· Keep your carpet in a well ventilated area
· Avoid exposing to direct sunlight. It’s normal for it to shed fibres; this will reduce over time. You can use a non-slip rug pad underneath your flat weave rug which prevents sliding
· You can also vacuum the rug regularly.
Spot cleaning / Removing stains
· In case of stains from spills or muddy footwear, remove any solid objects and use paper towels to absorb any excess liquids.
· You can use stain removers too but never use directly on the rug. Always pour some on a clean white cloth and apply onto the affected area.
· If you’re using the stain remover for the first time on your rug, please test it on a patch to make sure the colours don’t run.
· Don’t use chlorine, bleach, ammonia, etc. as these can damage the wool and cause colours to bleed.
Our products come in a few standard sizes that work across a range of spaces. A great way to avoid getting a product that doesn’t fit is to take measurements of your space before picking the size. In fact, measure it twice, just to be sure.
Each rug is handcrafted by our artisans, which means while they will be similar, no two rugs will ever be the exact same. In fact, we believe that’s the beauty of it so go ahead and embrace the wabi-sabi.
If you have an idea or design in mind but don’t see it in our catalogue, just send us a note at vrajang@spacewarprugs.com with your sketches, ideas and moodboards, and we'll help you bring your ideas to life. Prices of bespoke rugs will vary depending on the complexity of your design.
Since our rugs are made to order, we may not have the materials anymore to make one of our old designs. However, please write to us at shop@spacewarprugs.com and if we have all the materials on hand, we can definitely make it for you.
When it comes to choosing a workshop, we partner with only the best. Our partner artisans are master craftspersons, and some come from a long line of carpet weavers and rug makers. Which means, every spacewarp rug comes with a seal of excellence.
Our rugs don’t come with a warranty attached, however there are plenty of ways to ensure your new baby lives to a ripe old age. You can find the care instructions on the back of your rug or click here for rug care guide.
